Sampaguita Ivatan Gold Hook Earrings
Say hello to a flower that promises love and beauty! The Sampaguita, the Philippines' national flower, is named after the Filipino phrase "sumpa kita," meaning "I promise you." Now, wear that promise with pride in our Sampaguita Ivatan Gold Hook Earrings.
Bold, beautiful, and inspired by the rich cultural heritage of the Ivatan people from Batanes, these earrings are a modern twist on a timeless symbol. Handcrafted with love, each piece celebrates Filipino tradition while adding a little flair to your everyday style.
Each piece from our Ivatan collection is modelled after traditional Ivatan designs, passed on through inheritance across generations. Currently, only one artisan remains who knows how to make jewelry based on traditional Ivatan designs. He crafted these pieces for you ❤️
About the Craftmanship: The artistry of gold filigree craftsmanship has been practiced by native plateros for centuries. The platero begins by melting blocks of gold or silver, repeatedly hammering and cooling them until they become fine and delicate threads. The threads are carefully shaped by hand into "kalado" or lace-like patterns inspired by nature. To craft more intricate pieces, the platero individually welds small drops together to form beautiful heirlooms.
- Handcrafted by Filipino artisans in Batanes using the rare art of gold filigree, a pre-Hispanic indigenous technique
- Made of 985 pure silver dipped in 24-karat gold
- Height: 3.4cm; Width: 1.7cm
- Intended as heirloom pieces, colours will tarnish over time to develop a more antique look
